Reed & Root Therapy

Reed & Root Therapy · Asheville, NC

I'm Naomi — a trauma-informed therapist who works with the nervous system, not just the story. Sessions move at your pace, with room to feel whatever shows up. Nothing here is a performance, including this breath.

Ways we can work

Nothing here needs to fit in a box.

Somatic Experiencing
EMDR
Polyvagal-informed care
Parts work
Grief support
Attachment-focused work

What the first steps actually feel like.

Not knowing what happens next is its own kind of stress, so here it is plainly. You stay in charge of the pace the entire way.

01

A short, low-stakes note.

You write a sentence or two about what's going on. I read every message myself and reply within two business days — no intake packet yet, no forms.

02

A free 20-minute call.

We talk it through out loud. You can ask me anything, including whether I'm the right fit — an honest 'no' from me is a completely normal outcome here.

03

Sessions that follow your body.

Some weeks that looks like talking. Some weeks it's breath, grounding, and noticing what's happening underneath the words. There's no falling behind.

About

About Naomi

I'm a licensed professional counselor trained in Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and polyvagal-informed care. I believe healing isn't something done to you — it's something your nervous system already knows how to do, given enough safety and enough time. My job is to help you build both, at a pace your body actually trusts.

Gentle words from the room

I came in bracing for another round of 'tell me about your childhood.' Instead we started with my breathing, and something in me finally unclenched.

Naomi never once made me feel behind schedule. It turns out slow was exactly what my body needed to actually trust the process.
M., 34 · Trauma recovery
The whole site felt honest before I even sent an email, and the sessions have matched that completely. I didn't expect therapy to feel this unhurried.

You don't have to hold it perfectly still. You just have to keep bending.

Bending isn't the same as breaking

A stiff branch snaps in the first hard wind. A willow bends almost to the ground and stands back up. Most of us were taught to be the stiff branch. Here's the case for the other way.
